Microsoft Xbox 360 Console Call of duty 4

Problem:

Call of duty 4

Solution
:
  1. i cannot enter any matches anymore the process stops at getting match quality) thewn it tells me it cannot connect to player or if im playing a privte match it says cannot connect to host but the game seems to work fine when i make my own match
  2. I can't refresh or load any server up when playing online. it keep saying "waiting for response from master server" why is this happening? did i touch something in my setting or what? It wasn't doing this before but now it's doing it. it just won't want to load any server for me.
  3. Clear the memory cache from your hard drive and try again. Get instructions from google. Look for clearing xbox 360 hard drive cache for instructions.
  4. this isnt a solution but a little problem of my own, when i want to quit a game once it has gone back to lobby it says exaclty the same as yours 'need an active connection' so i have to quit to the main menu and load it back up but as soon as i do that all the points i got in that match or every match before that (if with same lobby) resets! its starting to get really annoying i got to rank 37 eight times last night grrrrrrrr
  5. xbox live has been having trouble for a few weeks now, it gets worse in the evening hours when alot of people are online. just keep trying

Microsoft Xbox 360 Console Xbox 360 will not read games or dvd's

Problem:

The xbox will play music, but not games or dvds. When you insert the disc, it just sits there doing nothing or "open tray". I have tried to clean the lense with alcohol and qtip, but it did not help. Do you know a quick fix?

Solution
:
  1. I replaced the lazer on my DVD drive and it works great now! It took about $30.00 (shipped from ebay) and about 1/2 hour to replace.
  2. Repair without open your 360!

Take a old hard disk 3,5 inch (the older, the better). Open the hard disk and rip-off the magnets (yes there are two magnets in a hard drive). Put one of the magnets on top of the middle of your dvd-drive. There are enough pictures on the net, so you can see were your dvd is.

Put in a cheap music CD. Listen if its playing. If it play's and make no damage to the disk put in your game! It will play like new. This is a nice solution for the ratteling noise.

Ring of dead; fix without opening.
rip of your front, rip of the gray plastic under the hard drive an the other site. Take a vacuum cleaner and suc out all dust! Some 360 will work like new, don't put it on your fans! They will die.
  3. Guys. I have been successful in repairing my ring of death 360 by carrying out a mod on the heatsinks. Does require you to be somewhat technically minded. The X clamps that hold the heatsinks in place stress the motherboard so that when it gets hot it warps - causing the ROD. This mod replaces the X clamps with nuts and bolts and this prevents the stress. Like I say I tried it out on one of my 360s (had nothing to loose) and to my surpise it worked. And that was 6 months ago and it still works. Check out the guide at this URL:
    http://rbjtech.bulldoghome.com/pages/rbjtech_bulldoghome_com/XClamp.htm

If in doubt then send it off to MS.

As for the "insert DVD in a 360" problem - the laser is shot and so the drive needs replacing. Can source one on ebay but before fitting you need to flash it with the correct serial number else the 360 wont like it. There are guides online that can tell you how to do this.
  4. The laser is shot. I called MS, and they said they will send me a new box for $120!
  5. well take out all of ur xbox wires and reset the console , and leave it for 30 mins the max
  6. hey guys i sended my 360 for some guys repair it at some kind of depot where they fix those kind of stuff, and they're repairing it at the moment, but they told me it was laser or the optic or something like that, so the point is like they bought it from internet, and they're fixing it at the moment, so it cost me around $110.00, so I would recommend you go to a place like this and pay them for 'em to fix it, or if you don't have that amount of cash, pay them for check your xbox 360 and tell you what's the problem, for you to buy from internet or somewhere else, and then pay them for them to install on you 360. They told me that it'll work so and I read somewhere else or here I don't remember, that, that was what was wrong with it, so I think you could try this
  7. the laser is weak for reading 360 games, mine does the same thing and im just now getting around to fixing it
  8. bust a nut in the cd tray close it. then it will work!k.
  9. its simple use a dvd lens cleaner and it works like new
  10. Place ur X-box upside down horizontal and that makes it read more clearly and that should fix it.

Microsoft Xbox 360 Console 2 red lights on the ring of light

Problem:

after playing a game for 10 min. or less playing on an xbox 360, the screen turns off and the xbox has 2 red lights on the ring of light the console is still on and the controller is still doing what it was doing such as vibrating the fans shut off after a couple moments but there is still lights

Solution
:
  1. its deffinly an overheating problem on the gpu or cpu i used to work for xbox in uk and fixed many many of these consoles at the repair centre allthough there are several solutions to fixin this problem that ive read about on the net. the best way i recommend is to clean of thermal paste on the gpu and cpu and replace with new paste and also buy a thermostatic cooling adapter or better fan for the back of the xbox and then it should continue to work fine also make sure the console is in a open a area so it can breathe , the biggest problem with this console i didnt understand is why didnt they didnt put a fan on the gpu heatsink and the cpu heatsink you dont see a pc without one or a good graphics card for a pc without one the cooling design is very poor and that dvd drive completely covers the gpu heatsink just think of all that heat in the plastic im supprised i never had one on fire lol, but now they have made some updates with new floating heatsink for gpu which is cool. best of luck people.
  2. The problem might be your `Transformer` ( I think thats its name) , you know, the big black box thing which you plug into the wall sockets and then plug your xbox into the transformer, try cooling that down. I dont know why but when I get 2 red lights I cool the transformer with a fan (yes I unplugged the transformer first) then plug it back in, the last time i did this it worked for about 3 hours before it broke again.. this is just a temporary fix not a permanant one. The only other thing I can suggest is send it in!
  3. 2 red lights on the ring of light

clean the cilicon of the cpu & gpu .
new cilicon in the cpu & gpu .
  4. Two red lights means your xbox is overheating. Clear the air vents by getting rid of the dust. Keep your xbox in the upright position in a well ventilated area away from any heat sources.

If it goes any further than this and you find you get three red lights, follow these instructions on how to repair your xbox 360
  5. 2 red lights mean overheating!

I had it just before I had the 3 red lights and then I had to repair it with the eraser fix. I found some information searching on Google that refer to it as overheating problem as well. I believe it is a warning stage before the 3 red lights. The 2 red lights can be prevented and fixed by a few simple actions:

    1. Give it some air! Put your console in an open space where it can ?breathe? and get some cool air.
    2. Let it cool down for a few hours, be patient! Wait until the console is really cool and then turn it on.

    Some prevention I recommend:

    1. Make sure the console sit in an open space with nothing blocking the air from coming in and out.
    2. Be careful not to put the console next to a hot item such as stove, radiator etc.
    3. From time to time check on it and make sure all the fans are working and that your console does not over heat, if it does you might want to buy some kind of a cooling system.
    4. DO NOT put your console outside in the cold weather or in the freezer it might cause even bigger problems!
    5. If you still have your warranty now it is a good time to exchange your console for a new one! Don?t wait like I did?

From my experience this should prevent the 2 red lights from coming back and from the appearing of the 3 red lights which means your console need to be repaired!
  6. the best solution is to VACCUM the dust out of the xbox before you get other problems. The collecting dust is making ur xbox overheat. So keep it clean before you get the 3 or 4 rings of death!
  7. I have found that if your xbox 360 is getting the red light problem the best thing to do in order to help it cool down if you are in a room with not enough ventalation is get something like a electric fan and turn it up to tbe coolest and just hold it over your xbox for a few mins and it should help to cool the system off

Microsoft Xbox 360 Console Xbox 360 3 red bars

Problem:

Theres 3 red bars flashing what does it mean???

Solution
:
  1. 1 flashing red light is normally error E74 and is a scaler chip error , you can try removing the hard drive and then replacing it as sometimes this works to stop the problem.
This will get increasingly worse and then you will have to send it back to MS or fix it yourself!
You can see a full video fix through the link below:
    Xbox 360 Fix
  2. the GPU has become losse ring in and see what they can do for you.
  3. red bars is hardware failure!
  4. Try restarting the console. If restarting the console does not resolve the behavior, follow these steps:
    • Turn the console off.
    • Unplug all the power and AV cables from the console.
    • Unplug the power cord from the wall socket.
    • Firmly reconnect all the cables.
    • Turn on the console.
    • If these steps do not resolve the behavior, turn the console off, remove the hard drive, and then turn on the console. If the 3x Red LED error light is no longer displayed, turn the console off, re-attach the hard drive, and then turn on the console.
Also examine the lights on the power supply. When you turn on the console, the power supply light should illuminate green even if the three lights on the RoL flash red
  5. According to Microsoft Support 3 red bars flashing usually means you have an hardware failure. Here is a link to Microsoft Support that may help you out.

Microsoft Xbox 360 Console Xbox 360 will not read cds of any sort, no error

Problem:

I have had my xbox 360 for a little over a year. It was one of the first to come out and has not had any problems in the past year. However a few days ago it would not read any CDs I attempted to play. It would give me the READING message on the status bar in the dash for a second, and then revert back to the open tray option, as if it wasn't detecting even the presence of a CD in the drive.

Solution
:
  1. My xbox stopped reading games untill i would open and close the tray for 20 minutes and even though lots of people say dvd lens cleaners dont work i got one cuz i cant live without my 360 and didnt want to send it to get fixed i bought the lens cleaner and some duster and sprayed all the dust out and ran the lens cleaner a few times after i got it to load. Then i put in a game and it worked first try and has had no problems since.
  2. i have fix my dads console. It wouldnt load games only cds and dvds.It would come up with a message PUT THIS GAME IN A XBOX 360.Ifixed it by taking the dvd drive out opened the drives case and pushed the laser up to the dvd motor that spins the disc. It play games first time .He was told the laser was nackerd but it work perfectly every time now .
  3. My xbox was having trouble reading disks and one day it stopped reading them almost completly. I could get a game to work but it took about 20 minutes of opening and closing the tray even with brand new disks. My microsoft warrenty was up and i had a smart plan but they wanted me to send it somewhere and i cant really live without it so i bought some duster and a maxwell dvd lens cleaner. I spayed out all my vents and then ran the lens cleaner. After that i put in my newest game and it worked perfect. I then tried one of my older more used games just in case it was luck, but it worked perfect the first time. Im so happy i dont have to ship it away. i finally can love life again.
  4. If your XBOX360 will not read anything, your problem could be two things. Your DVD Rp, laser is bad or your DVD Rom PC Board is bad. You will need to replace the DVD ROM. The XBOX 360 motherboard itself shouldbe good 99.9% of the time.
  5. The problem here probably relates to the drives disk placement magnet. Which holds the disk in place to spin up. Sometimes this can become dis-lodged and stick to the roof of the drive therefore not recognising cd's, dvd's anything inserted into the drive. Sometimes makes no noise at all, sometimes makes a horrid scraping noise and sometimes though rarely engages perfectly and attempts to spin up but usually fails.

Ok the nitty-gritty to fix this fault I'm afraid you'll need to open up your xbox and dvd drive. there are plenty of tutorials that show you how to carry this out especially the really handy ones on youtube if you search. I'm thinking about posting a video solution, the next time i get this fault in my hands and show how easy it is to fix.
  6. my xbox is doing the same thing, my first xbox died because of the little magnetic thing that is supposed to hold the game in place, you know you have this problem when your xbox 360 makes a very loud very annoying grinding noise. i fixed this by opening my xbox and manually putting the magnetic cap over this disk *i had no warrenty* well i got annoyed with that so i bought a new xbox used........ never buy a used xbox. so mine broke again, and i have this open tray problem. it is not the magnetic cap that is doing this. unless u hear a loud grinding noise thats not it. i am currently looking at my xbox which i have opened and manually put the magnetic cap on the disc and tried to play i, i still get and open disk error. well i heard something about a rubber band fix, and that the reason that the open tray thing happens because the lazer is pushed to far foward and reads the very middle of the disc, which has no information on it. thus thinking there is no disc in the console here is a link. i am about to try it. i hope it works. i hope i helped

Microsoft Xbox 360 Console Xbox console says unplayable disc

Problem:

unplayable disc

Solution
:
  1. if u know how to open up your console then it would be better to clean up the lens with a soft cotton tip.And remember to put the xbox 360 in the horizontal position because in that position the console reads discs better.
  2. This could be that your DVD rom has stopped working properly. See if you can hear it spin up at all. It may be spinning too slow to to read the actual data on the discs. Send it in if you are under warranty. If not buying a replacement is cheap, and installing is not that hard if you can fix a PC.

The xbox 360 will use pretty much any serial ATA dvd rom. I recommend 16x - 24x readable only / rw don't work.

Also some really off brands have been known to fail as well.
There is also a website that sells the exact same unit that is in the system already. We don't recommend it, but it gets the job done.

Two problems happen with these DVD roms, one is a glue melting issue, which will cause, "Unplayable Disc" errors, and "The Grinding" which is common cause of warranty service. Truth is MS will just replace it with the same inferior DVD rom. You are better off getting your own in reality. Spend the $50 now and save the 3 weeks and the head ache later.

  4. I have had nearly three years of gaming out of my x-box console without a problem (apart from the two I took back in the first month and replaced.)

I have just had the unplayable disc problem.

After an hour of frustratingly opening up the drive and closing it, turning it off at the wall, letting it cool down, I decided to read the posts above.

After reading the one from a fellow guest about spinning the disc? I assume this is after pulling it apart? Though I thought, rather than pull apart the box why not try just giving the console a 'light' shake while it starts spinning the disc just in case.

It worked! and what is even stranger, now it works without spinning.
  5. Hey Guys, i had the same problem. too
i found i guess what is a temporary fix
open your tray and start spinning the disk very gentley
dont do it too hard or it will sctrach your disk and that would not be good......
close the tray while spinning your disk gentley and it should work
    hoped this helped!

The xbox keeps going to unreadable disc

Problem:

the xbox keeps going to unreadable disc, it stops in the middle of the game while playing,it says to put in a disc when there is a disc in the xbox.

Solution
:
  1. I blew ours out with an air compressor (I'm sure a can of air would work fine) and couldn't believe the amount of dust that blew out. Also make sure the drive drawer is open when you unplug it so you can blow air inside the cd-rom too.
Also bought a cd/dvd cleaner at officemax.
  2. Check and see if there is any deep scratches in you disk.
Happened to me, i just brought the game back to the store,no recept, and they gave me a new on because it was the manufactures fault.
  3. Make sure your box is not blowing really hot air and nothing is right behind it blocking it. I get disc read errors when its hot. Turn it off for a few minutes and let it cool down. Consider the xbox360 fan add on. From what your saying as long as it is not consistant it is just being TEMPramental . ALWAYS turn it off when your not using and be real nice to it. If the problem is consistant go back to solution 1 as a new or fixed xbox is better than one that may be running into problems.

Microsoft Xbox 360 Console 3 flashing red lights

Problem:

When i turn on my 360 it makes a clack sound and 3 red lights on the front start to flash. HELP ME!!!!!

Solution
:
  1. Microsoft is INCLINED to replace the RROD (red ring of death)
Its a fatal error with 360s, and theres not a thing you can do about it.
It takes days to months once sent in to replace, but its 100% free.
  2. STOP!STOP!STOP!
Microsoft are now accepting liability for the 3 red lights issue.
My childrens XBox warranty had just expired (2 weeks prior). I was about to commence on the rubber thing, but thought i would phone customer services anyway to complain about the problem and the sheer number of people that this has happened to. They are now giving a full 3 year warranty for this problem and have collected the XBox this afternoon.
Hopefully they will fix this with a new design that prevents this from reoccuring. Anyone who has had this fixed can also claim the repair bill back if within 3 years.
contact customer services on 0800-587-1102! uk.
  3. The best thing you can do is follow the xbox 360 repair guide at isitascam.com

XBOX 360 - E74 WITH ONE RED LIGHT

Problem:

CAN YOU HELP AND PLEASE DON'T SAY CONTACT MICROSOFT.

Solution
:
  1. I found out how to fix this problem from this blog:
    http://xbox3603redlights.wordpress.com/
It is a GPU error and takes about 30 mins to fix!
    Got it sorted though!
  2. DO NOT USE A TOWEL!!! This will mess it up for good.

I fix a console every day and put them on ebay, out of the 100s that i have fixed only 1 or 2 have ever not worked after doing this fix:

    1. One of the main reasons that causes you’re Xbox to die is over heating. This can cause warping of the motherboard due to the X clamps that Microsoft use to hold the heat sinks in place, which in-turn can damage the minute solder points all over the motherboard. The first thing we need to do is open the 360 & remove all the internal parts. There are several tutorials for this, here is 1 of them: http://www.xboxchopshop.com/catalog/man_360_open.php
  3. fixya experts found the solution for the 3 flashing red lights problem. Click here for more details.
  4. I had the same problem. I basically put a towel round my x box for ten minutes, used a different AV cable and it worked. for some reason my old AV cable is working now too. its better to try this than paying for the fix.

Microsoft Xbox 360 Console Xbox 360 keeps freezing

Problem:

The console keeps freezing during the opening screen, and the time or two I was able to get past that screen, it freezes when the game is loading. Plus I have gotten the red ring a couple of times. What can I do?

Solution
:
  1. There's a great 3 red lights fix here. It's by fixya expert
  2. Try keeping your power brick cool. I do that by placing it on the corner of my shoe box. I did that and I had no problems.
  3. Try turning off the VSYNC in the graphic options.

Xbox 360 screen wont show up

Problem:

i was playing and one day i turned it on and the sound worked perfectly but the screen dident come up i bought new cables still nothing so what do i do.........

Solution
:
  1. If the console is not under warranty (hence you removed the seal) there is a simple fix for this - Do not do the towel trick - harms the cpu and the gpu also only works for a little while.
  2. This is a difficult solution to recommend but the towel trick does work, let it over heat the 360 for about 20 min, then let it cool for 20 more min, and it now works fine, I have a inner cooler now to keep from overheating again.
  3. ok try to let it cool for 30-50 min then turn it on if stiil dosent then wipe all prongs and then plug them back in the tv now try to turn it on still no work try new cables still no work try new tv. but check if the switch is set to hd or tv{if u have hd switch to hd if tv turn to tv}.try to get a new consle if to much $ try sending to the manufraturer. that all that i can offer
  4. right yh same here... i tryed putting it on another T.V it allmost worked for me but im guessing I need a new lead, but for you it may work, give it a try. if that doesn't work i really dont know, i tryed goin to the shops about it but they said the problem was new to them.
  5. Send it in to xbox they'll fix it. Takes forever but they'll do it. If you can make it that long.

Microsoft Xbox 360 Console My rank on call of duty 4 on xbox live keeps on..

Problem:

I am having problems between my xbox live wireless connection and call of duty 4 xbox 360 game. 95% of the time, my progress does not save, it just occasionally randomly saves. Its very frustrating because every time im playing it, i wonder if 'this time' it will save and all the progress im making is totally worthless. C.O.D is the only game i seem to be having saving problems with. I understand that the game has auto save, but why isnt it doing its job after each round??
I would be absolutely delighted if you could provide me with an answer as it is the best game i have ever played and im not able to enjoy it freely.
Please help.

Solution
:
  1. Do you have a big enough hard drive? or is your HD full?
  2. are you saving it to your harddrive if so make sure that it is plugged in correctly or you may be having problems with the disk.
  3. i got it too... but i know how to save ( works 50%) after a match do NOT leave it yet, if the new match just sarted, after the countdown leave verry vast als ga to the home page, this might work
  4. my hd not full or anything like that but nothing is saving when i disconnect or turn my xbox off. 5% off the time it does so im now rank 4 but thius is only online.

Error E 74

Problem:

ive had my xbox 360 for about a year and a half now and it has worked great until just a couple of weeks ago...when i turn my xbox on now all it shows is the bottom right ring light flashing red and E 74 appears on the screen. I looked it up and was told that it was a problem with the a/v cable, but i tried other a/v cables that belong to my friend and it still doesnt work. i figured that maybe that it was the a/v component inside the xbox i.e. the chip. i no longer have a warranty on my xbox so microsoft will not help. does anyone have any advice for me? is there a way i could acquire another chip and replace it?

Solution
:
  1. Even though I did the stupid thing taking apart my xbox 360 breaking the seal microsoft still gave me another 360 I didn't even have a warranty! I still bought another 360 though because they said that there would be a 10% chance of it being fix. So now I have 2 360's
  2. 1. do the damn towel trick.
    this is a temp fix
    2. go sell it to gamestop w/o HDD
    3. GO back the next day and buy a new 360
i had to do this cuz my xbox was stolen
  3. Worked for me. Wrapped in towel for 5 minutes. Took it off and let it cool down. Error E74 gone (for now).
  4. Okay, you can pay xbox about $150 and they will fix it. your xbox is overheating and it is happening to all of them. If you don't want to try that, I have heard of a solution some people, even a friend of mine has wrapped a towel around it and just left it on. It will counteract itself and reboot itself to normal and you will be able to play with it. when and if you fix it, unplug it when not in use and don't play marathon times with it.
  5. i had error 74 .The only way you will fix it is by doing the x clamp fix ,then over heat the system by unpluging the fans until you get two red lights. My 360 has been work ever since.
  6. alright quit witht the goddamn towel trick it breaks the consale even more water and electricty doesnt work just send it in or fix it your self

My xbox 360 won't even start up/turn on

Problem:

This is bs i just bought halo 3 and i get home and my xbox 360 don't even turn on that fucked up piece of shit xbox

Solution
:
  1. take your xbox to the roof and drop it on the cement below that will solve your problem for now
  2. Mine would not turn on either, all I did was unplug the power brick from the powerstrip I had it in and put it directly in the wall outlet.
  3. If the unit wont power on, and the power brick has power and is lit up green, the issue is likely a failing voltage regulator transistor. The P/N of the transistor is MMBT3906LT1 and it can be replaced at home with a small soldiering iron and some care. Look up the transistor part number. There of plenty of location guides and sources to buy it on line. They are all of a few dollars.
  4. If you're talking about your hard drive (attaches to the top of the machine), then take it out and use a memory card. If it's a memory card... then you may need to replace it.
  5. Fixya solved 3 red lights problem
    thanks fixyaexpert

Microsoft Xbox 360 Console Xbox 360 no video

Problem:

i have one of the regular xbox 360s with the 20gb hd. its not even a year old and i lost video, i get sound, but no video. i'm not stupid so dont suggest trying different tv's, making sure the av cables are plugged into the same input, making sure the switch is turned to tv and not hdtv. the only thing i havent tried is using a different av cable. until i can find someone with one i wont be able to, im not about to spend $30 and wait 2+ weeks for something that may not work. does anybody have a suggestion?

Solution
:
  1. I had no video and dots, and the sound worked fine, but no RRoD.
So I tried the towel trick just to kill the 360 into a RRoD situation that is covered by the extended warranty. After about 40 minutes of running the 360 was crazy hot. I flipped on the TV/Video switch to see if there was any change, and the video returned!

So, the towel tricked worked for me. I wanted to kill my 360 but it revived it. It's been 4 days and the video has been working fine
  2. same proble guys playing Mass effect I thought the game just had really crap lighting, and being colour blind thought nothing of the unusual colouring and then turned it off after playing and when i tryed it again no piture wonding if i should get it repaired or wait till this becomes the new 3ROD problem they fork out to fix at the company
ps I rarely ever played mine never would of had a chance to warm up let alone overheat
  3. same problem TRY:

*turning on wait 10 secs and turn it off.
    *turn on hold RT+Y
  4. Buy a pre-owned cable, test it on your system, if it works keep it, if it doesn't, take it back and say you bought the wrong lead!]
  5. Mine started doing this and the towel trick seemed to of fixed it enough to play games many times over. I seem to only get it during mass effect, weird eh?
  6. I know 95% of you have probably tried this, but if you have your HDMI components hooked into your TV, make sure the switch on your A/V cables is turned to HDMI...and if they are just the regular RYW cables, make sure its switched to TV.
