Ps3 startup software won't load correctly

Problem:

When I turn on my ps3 instead of the nice main menu, I get a blank screen with some pixelation on it. I was using an HDMI connection, so I pulled it, put my regular rca cables back on and reset the dislplay options by holding the power button on front of the ps3, and the same happened so it doesn't appear to be a cable issue. Any ideas??

Solution
:
  1. You have to hold the front power button for about a minute.
  2. hiya, I did the exact same thing, but with a little common sense i finally figured how to get my screen to load again. this is what i did.I went back and plugged in my HDMI cable to the tv it was connected to with the rca cables as well. The HDMI connector should load the screen with its default setting. Go to the settings-display setting-video output setting.change it back to AV MULTI/SCART and just follow the messages. A message will pop up and tell you if the screen goes blank it will reset to its original setting (HDMI setting). Your screen will go blank, in the mean time, change ur television back to either video 1 or video 2, wherever you have ur regular RCA hooked up...you should be able to see the menue. Hit save setting..now ur PS3 should be able to load through the regular RCA cables...hope this help...

Ps3 not reading

Problem:

40gb ps3 not reading any discs. this is my 2nd ps3 with this problem.

Solution
:
  1. i was just on Call of Duty 4 , i was shooting my gun and there was no sound at all then i turned my ps3 off and now it wont read the disk!!
  2. Nope circut city is only a 14 day return policy. lol Looks like your getting another ps3. My sons laser crashed on his yesterday he has played it 2 weeks (he was playing call of duty 4). To the person asking about how to contact sony. Go to Sony.com and com and somewhere will say support and contact us. The number will be there. There is no fixing it and if its under 90 days its a new replacement. If its over 90 its a refurb. So better hurry. They will send you a new box w/ prepaid shipping and you send it back ups (tracking) Then your new one will come. Sucks you have to wait for it but hey at least they are sending out new ones no questions asked.. hope this helps...
  3. Lots of people are having this problem for lots of different reasons. It is a problem with the disk drive. Call Sony Customer Support on 08705 99 88 77 (this is a UK number and always check here first for latest numbers: http://uk.playstation.com/contact-us/). Sony will want the serial number (on the back of the playstation under the bar code). In my case I called on a Friday morning and they have arranged a replacement system for the Monday between 8am - 6pm. I'm sure Sony has similar arrangements in all other regions.Good luck!
  4. I already posted my account of the same problem, so this is one of the resolution.I took the PS3 to the shop I bought it from. The guy said that he'll check it and get back to me in a few days and that it might cost me, seeing as to how the warranty of 1month he had given me only covered the motherboard. When I went back to him he said that it's the lens(or perhaps the blu-ray diode as others have said, but from what I remember, he told me it was the lens).. and replacing it would cost me 15KD which is around 30 pounds sterling, and around $56 at the current exchange rates... that's after discount apparently... I asked about the guarantee he'd give me, he said 2 weeks... I asked him about what happens if it should fail after the 2 weeks, he said that would be impossible..Anyways... it's working fine and smoothly now, no problems so.. far...
  5. mine just went aswell, not showing or reading any discs allthough i havent been using call of duty so i wouldnt blame that game for the problem, who can say why the drive should be such poor quality for so many people to be having the same problem.i called sony this morning though and they said they'l have a new one sent to my doorstep tommorow which is pretty good customer service i'd say.

for mine i tried other fixes and they didn't work. Turns our my router had enabled security but the PS3 had forgotten the password (WEP key).I turned

My PS3's hard disk file system is corrupted

Problem:

My ps3 wont restore!!After the message hard disk file system is corrupted start restore comes up I start the restore and back to the same message. Please help me cant play games,Blu Ray,music or anything!!!Im dieing!!

Solution
:
  1. Just buy ANY laptop (2.5") SATA drive and replace the bad drive. Get a bit more space while you are at it. Get a 160 or 200gb, or a 7200 RPM drive instead of the 5400 RPM one that it comes with.
  2. I just think it's ridiculius to have to pay $150. It just happend not even 6 months ago we go it repared and it happend again just in april. I should not have to pay that money to fix something that they JUST repaired!!!!
  3. This happened to my husbands PS3 also. He put it into another PS3 and reformatted it and then when he got home and put it back into his it asked him to reformat again and this did the trick. It's been working ever since. He called Sony and they wanted him to send back his hard drive and they would either fix or send him a "new" refurbished one for $150. I don't think so!!

  5. hi i posted my problem on 19th of may.i have a 60gb playstation that crashed i phoned plastation helpline 08705 998 877 and they where great they are sendin me a new playstation within 7 working day due to demand on the 60gb.this has been the best helpline i've phoned.the only down side is i have to start all my games from square the gf will not be impressed.Don't worry it seems bad but it does have a happy ending.....happy gaming
  6. I no how 2 fix this!! it happend 2 me 2day on my ps3 60gb PAL this is what i did...1) take ur HDD out (this does not void the playstation warenty).2) plug it back in and try an turn it on and format it.3) if it comes up with the message again then remove it again and this time put a tiny bit of 3 in 1 oil onto a tissue and then clean/lubricate the bit that connects the ps3(electronic connection) worked grate for me i could get onto the ps3 main menu and do stuff its just it kept freezing at most things.4) so i then backed up my data onto a memory stick pro duo and did a full system format on the ps3.

Problem:

i system updated my ps3 but when its installing it only gets to about 66% and it gives me an error, and i retart my ps3 and the installation begins again but it never gets to 100%, and i cannot cancel the installation! help!

Solution
:
  1. I was having this problem for Assasin's Creed, GTAIV updates. Once I disabled the RSS Feed/ticker (orange icon) so as not to be displayed, I was able to download both updates within 2 attempts.
  2. Here is the problem. If you are using a wireless connection and keep getting a error about the server. All you have to do is good wired and it will work the first time. I think it has to do with the security on the routers. Hope this helped!
  3. If you have problems with downloading the system update, then use the other method given in the system. You can download the update from your CPU off the playstation website. Place the file on a memory card or usb flash drive and plug it in the PS3. Choose to Update via Storage Media. Locate the file and install. I haven't tried it, but you might even be able to download it off the PS3 internet browser off the website! As for updates for games, that's a totally different monster. I still have problems not completely downloading game updates. I contacted Sony, and only got a "Sorry for the Inconvenience" reply with a bunch of links for troubleshooting.

Sony Playstation 3 Console

Problem:

Help please! Console is less than a month old. Tonight when we turned it on it would not boot up game that was inserted. We reset defaults to manufacture's specs - still won't up load games or play Spider III movie that came with. Loading symbol continues to spin in upper right corner.

Solution
:
  1. we just have the same problem, system is only 2 months old and wont play my games and we're calling the local news and copying all statements we find...anyone else interested in a lawsuit email me lawyer says we could have a good case.
  2. Hey everyone, I have contacted a law firm that is acquiring info for a possible class action lawsuit. Especially for people who live in California, but everywhere else too: Please have all of your information DOCUMENTED! Write down when your PS3 stopped working and why, whether you have a receipt or not, when or if you contacted Sony, what was the outcome with Sony, if this defect has ever happened before, and what Sony is going to do to remedy this for you. Take all the info and email it to: info@millslawfirm.com and write in the subject line "Sony Playstation 3". Additionally, if any of you are on another site or are blogging, repost this to spread the word. Good luck all!
  3. This morning my PS3 stop reading Games, movies, CDs, everything, like the drive is dead, I got it Nov 30, 2007, so its 5 months old. I still have the receipt, so I called Sony they said they'll mail me a box to send off my PS3 and either they'll repair my old one or send me a new one. I see above people said they got a used one back, that's BS I paid nearly 600$ and I don't want some system someone else has handled, either fix my old one or send me a new one. I think I want to sue.
  4. *How to get a new receipt* If you're unable to find the receipt, talk to the person who purchased your PS3 and have he or she search their bank account that they purchased the system with. If they can find the purchase, their account should show the receipt number, place of purchase, and the amount. With this information, you can contact the retail store they purchased the system from and that store can reprint the receipt even if you purchased it several months ago. I hope this helps those of you w/o a receipt. I know Sony's warranty isn't too dandy, which is why I wish I got Best Buy's replacement plan, but understand they need that receipt as legal proof that the system was purchased within the warrant period. Though, it still sucks.
  5. its a problem with the latest download update. sorry to say but its a job for sony as long as its still under warranty. just phone them up explain the probs your having and they will send you a new (normally reconditioned) unit out. i'm getting my new one tomorrow. upset it broke but sony's replacement service is very good.
  6. I think that the solution for the problem is to upgrade the firmware. If still has a problem you need to see if your system is at 24ghz 1080p that´s the highest blu-ray output, and some games and other media can keep with it and playstation 3 cannot translate to a more accurate frequency. So all you have to do is to downgrade tha frequency to lower one.If this help please answer.Thank you!
  7. Be sure to backup your settings/games saves by doing a System > Backup on your PS3 or you may lose your game saves! Also, this is a last resort procedure prior to exchanging/returning to sony. 1. Power Off the PS3 via the power switch in back and power back on w/switch. 2. Hold Power Button on the Front until you hear 3 beeps. 3. Then go through the initial setup and then run a full Format via System > Format. (will take approx 3 1/1 hours). You may need to have our AV cables ready if your using HDMI (in case HDMI isn't detected after initial reset). 4. Restore your backup you made prior to doing factory/hard reset (optional, if you created a backup). Hopefully this will solve your freezing problems. Problems/symptons that this appears to have resolved: -freezing when doing anything -no harddrive activity -freezing when trying to use onboard keyboard or bringing up keyboard -game/movie disc freezes system

Problem:

i had my ps3 for a month and it was working perfectly until yesterday wen i would put in a game and there would jst be the little circle in the top right corner that jst keeps on going around and around.

Solution
:
  1. I called Sony 3 times already, i have explained that I got my unit as a gift for xmas and its been less than a year Where the Fuckkk you want me to get the receipt from? my ps3 wont read any disks and I am Fuckinnn pissed I dont know why I sold my xbox Ima go back
  2. I called Sony 3 times already, i have explained that I got my unit as a gift for xmas and its been less than a year Where the Fuckkk you want me to get the receipt from? my ps3 wont read any disks and I am Fuckinnn pissed I dont know why I sold my xbox Ima go back
  3. The best thing you can do is send your console to sony customer support as they will know what to do with it. You won't be able to work it out with lens cleaning discs because it wont even recognize the disk and will not run it.......hope you have a warranty...............also with Xbox 360, you will have to add more cost for network adaptor and even LIVE costs a lot.
  4. READ THIS...every1 with a ps3 yes you should have a 3 year warranty. This is because the ps3 with its crazy blue ray technology uses a magnifing lens to read the discs. although this is realy good the bad thing is that the slightest bit of dust, dirt or moisture that gets into the ps3 and ends up on the lens means that your games will freeze now and again and if it gets bad your ps3 will end up not reading your discs at all, which neans you will have to phone sony and get it replaced hence take out 3 year warrenty. i advise every1 to make sure the games are completly dirt and finger print free before sticking ur game in.
  5. READ THIS IF YOU WANT TO KNOW WHY YOUR PS3 FREEZES OR DOES NOT READ YOUR DISCS. my ps3 started to freeze on some of my games but eventualy it froze and then it would not read and of my discs at all. i phoned sony for some answers! well they say because its blue ray the lens has a serious magnifying lense and if and dirt, dust or moisture gets on it, yours games will freeze and could end up not reading any discs at all. so they are sending me a new ps3 in 5 days. i recomend 3 year warranty and also to avoid it happening with your new 1 make sure you remove any finger print dirt or the smallest bit of dust before sticking it in.
  6. yeah i got the same problem i was just killing guards on oblivion then it says insert the disk, halfway through playing the game. ive tried everything, ps3 restore, format hard disk and all that ****, it just wont work, all my other ps3 games ******* too. ive phoned sony and they replaced me with a new one, 2 weeks and it dies on me again.... people have been telling me to get a ******* xbox too, i have one but in fucks up disk too much, one slightest touch or knock on the console and bam, theres 10 inch deep circular scratches on my ******* disks, if u check the edge of an xbox game after uve had it for like 2 month its all ridgety and rough, the ps3 disks however are perfect, well they would be if the ******* worked... all i have left is a 3 year old ps2 will probs break soon too lol, **** that ****...

yeah i got the same problem i was just killing guards on oblivion then it says insert the disk, halfway through playing the game. ive tried everything

Problem:

i can go on line thats fine but i can't log into playstation network ?any ideas ?

Solution
:
  1. Try connecting the ps3 strait to the modem, disconnet the modem from everything for about a minute to reset it, then connect it all back up making sure there is no usb cable conected to the modem, turn the modem on, then turn the ps3 on, then go on to reset your internet settings on the ps3.
  2. Restart and retry. It works
